Bollywood Grooves Brazil, known as BGB is a Modern Indian Dance Group related with the very well known Group called Bollywood Grooves (BG) of London.

In Brazil, the Bollywood Grooves classes take place at Natyalaya School of Classical Dances since January, 2005.

What is Bollywood Dance

The Bollywood dance consists in various Indian and Western dance forms. Primarily inspired from the music in Bollywood (Indian Film) Industry. The dance is a fusion of classical and folk Indian dances like Bhangra, a little bit of Arabian dance, Latin, jazz and classical and modern western dances.
Bhangra is a folk dance from Punjab State, North India. Nowadays, the Bhangra music has been remixed with all types of music and is becoming more popular each day, mainly in England and United States. This music is very rhythmic and composed with fantastic “dhol” beats.


Bollywood Grooves Brazil - BGB

The Bollywood Grooves main school is situated in London and is very well known in Europe. The London Group is directed by Vandana Alimchandani and has been taking part in many events, also taking part in some Bollywood movies. In Brazil, the branch was established in São Paulo under the direction of Patricia Romano and her daughter, Iara Ananda Romano by the initiative of the dancer Fernanda Palmeira. Fernanda is Brazilian and was part of the Bollywood Grooves in London and nowadays lives in Abu Dhabe, Emirates.

Iara Ananda Romano

Iara Ananda Romano is Patricia Romano’s daughter and dedicates herself for the Indian Dance since tender age. In 1998, when she was just 11 years old she was honoured with a prize by the Indian Consulate in São Paulo because of her talent. Iara is considered today one of the exponents in Classical Indian Dance in Brazil and is the main responsible person for the Bollywood classes in Brazil.
